Collision leaves pedestrian seriously injured

The man was found lying in the middle of the road and the light motor vehicle was parked on the side of the road.

A 34-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck by a light motor vehicle at the Veldman and Gesiena Streets intersection in Carletonville on the far West Rand on Wednesday, August 4.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson said their paramedics arrived on the scene at approximately 07:16 to find the car that struck the man parked on the side of the road, and the man lying in the middle of the road.

“The man was assessed and found to have sustained serious injuries. Medics treated and transported him to Carletonville Provincial Hospital for further care.”

He said the driver of the light motor vehicle fortunately escaped injury.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
