Hope for those on the brink of giving up

A church congregation from Krugersdorp donated 30 food packs to residents of the Master informal settlement in Randpoort.

Members of Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Krugersdorp branch donated 30 food packs to families of the Master informal settlement near Randgate on Saturday, July 31.

According to the coordinator of the initiative, Sandra Marrocane, the annual charity project seeks to assist families in Rand West City that are living in poverty – most which are on the brink of losing hope.

“The purpose behind this is to bring hope to the community and help people in need. We also do this every year as we celebrate what we call Enlightened Christian Gathering Global Day. Our leaders of the church have encouraged us to go out and put joy in the hearts of people. This time, we’ve decided to share our love with the people of the informal settlement,” Sandra said.

Sandra added their gesture was immensely welcomed by those who were on the receiving end of their charity – especially knowing that organisations like ECG haven’t forgotten them and their plight.

She said in the last three years since the start of the project, areas such as Mohlakeng, Kagiso and Munsieville also benefited from the charity – which is set to continue throughout the region.

“As the members of the Church we came together and contributed towards giving within our community. We were able to do this through our members in the church who help feed these families from their own pockets,” Sandra said.
