Beach bar becomes a soup kitchen

Through their soup kitchen, they aim to cook 1 000 meals per day that will be distributed to selected churches and NGOs.

With the pandemic putting a damper on everything, one company in Randfontein will be helping those in need by using their beach bar and restaurant as a soup kitchen.

Dylan Grobler, managing director at Intro Beach and project director of the Intro Beach relief programme said the future has never felt so unpredictable with Covid-19 and the looting, so they want to do everything to sustain daily operations and provide services to their community.

That is why Intro Beach will establish a kitchen that will supply meals to those in the community who need it the most.

Their aims is to cook meals for 1 000 people per day, and their goal is to supply 30 000 meals over the next 30 days.

“If you are able, please support the Intro Beach Soup Kitchen to provide 1 000 meals a day by donating either food products or money.”

All meals will be distributed to selected churches and NGOs in the area. You can also make a donation to benefit an organisation of your choice.

They need products like vegetables, rice, beans, chicken, beef mince, bread or any other related food that can be used for meals, as well as packing materials. They also need funding to purchase products, but mostly to pay staff for their labour.

Dylan explained that a few companies, such as like BevYethu, All In One Tyres, Coal Butcher, Riebeeckrand Tuckshop and Randgate Spar are involved in the project.

“The soup kitchen will run as long as necessary and as long as we get support; we would like to see this grow and we want to make a difference every day,” said Dylan.

Any donated goods can be dropped off at Intro Beach across from Tambotie Mall, behind Frans du Toit pharmacy. To get involved in the project, contact Dylan on 061 530 9514.
