SPCA fully operational after Covid-19 scare

After almost two weeks of closure due to a Covid-19 case, the RandWest SPCA is excited to welcome everyone back.

The RandWest SPCA is happy to announce that they are opening their doors again after almost two weeks.

Rene van Straten, inspector at the RandWest SPCA confirmed both its Randfontein and Westonaria branches were closed on Thursday, July 1 due to a staff member testing positive for Covid-19.

“Due to the staff from one branch mixing with staff from the other branch, the decision to close both branches was taken for safety,” Rene explained.

She said they are pleased to announce that the staff member has been re-tested and is now negative, and both branches have reopened to the public on Tuesday, July 13. They are fully operational again and welcome adoptions as well as donations.

They can be reached by telephone from Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 16:00, and on Saturdays from 09:00 to noon.

The numbers are Randfontein: 011 412 3114; and Westonaria: 078 911 0789.

Rene said anyone wishing to bring an unwanted or stray animal to the SPCA can place the animal into the receiving kennels which are available at both branches. Please contact the office numbers when doing so.
