Mapogo crime report: Five incidents – From medical emergency to housebreaking

Mapogo released its crime report for the period from July 5 to July 11 – from housebreaking in Greenhills to theft in Homelake.

It was a busy week for Mapogo A Mathamaga Security with several incidents occurring in Randfontein.

Ben Willemse, operations manager at Mapogo, said five incidents were reported for their client base for the period from Monday, July 5 to Sunday, July 11.

• Tuesday, July 6 at 12:53 – Medical emergency, Smuts Street, Randgate. Client requested medical assistance after his father suffered a stroke.

• Wednesday, July 7 at 13:15 – Housebreaking and theft, Kenneth Avenue, Greenhills. Two intruders forced open the front door, stole a laptop from the premises and fled the scene.

• Wednesday, July 7 at 12:42 – Theft, Beatrice Avenue, Homelake. A thug entered the business, distracted the owner whilst pretending to be a shopper, stole the owner’s cellphone and left the shop.

• Friday, July 9 at 09:23 – Theft, Ewart Road, Homelake. The owner of the premises contacted Mapogo and informed them that unknown intruders had climbed over the back wall and stole water pipes and taps during the night.

• Friday, July 9 at 10:34 – Attempted break-in, Homestead Avenue, Greenhills. Unknown intruders broke a window at the back of the clubhouse and forced open burglar bars. Nothing was stolen from the premises.

Ben urged residents to make sure that they and their families are safeguarded during the Covid-19 peak infection period.

“Assist your security company by avoiding false alarm activations, and ensure that your alarm system is fully functional and armed when you leave your property, home or business,” said Ben.
