WATCH: Artist expresses what and how she feels through her music

Thandi Sonkwala aka Yourz Truly from Aureus said music allows her to just be herself.

Afro-pop singer and songwriter Thandi Sonkwala aka Yourz Truly said music allows her to be who she truly wants to be – hence her stage name.

“I just write what I feel, but mostly spread a positive message about love, life, goals and dreams,” she said.

The artist officially entered the music arena in 2015 and has recently released a single titled Akukholula expressing that life is not easy at times.

Yourz Truly started singing at an early age at church where she discovered her vocal talent. She explored her talent and ended up writing and composing songs.

“The first time I recorded in studio was in 2015, and I never looked back,” she told the Herald.

She always makes sure that her musical content is different and relays positive messages to her audience.

“I want everyone who listens to my music to either relate or feel like I’m telling their story on their behalf. Sometimes I like being emotionally in synch with my audience. I am the type of artist who communicates with endless possibilities, always,” she said.

The passionate artist went on to say music is a way of telling stories of either a personal nature, or from merely observing life.

She said it is one of her biggest goals to use her vocals to inspire and influence millions of people across the globe with Afro-pop.

At the moment she is focusing on finishing the rest of her extended play record which will be released in September.

“I don’t know any other way to express what and how I feel than using a beat and melodies. Music helps me express how and what I feel, always!” she concluded.
