Mapogo crime report: Seven incidents – From rape to housebreaking

Mapogo released its latest crime report for the period from 21 to 27 June – from armed robbery in Aureus to rape in Wheatlands.

It was an extremely busy week for Mapogo A Mathamaga Security with several serious incidents occurring in Randfontein.

Ben Willemse, operations manager at Mapogo, said seven incidents were reported for their client base for the period from Monday, June 21 to Sunday, June 27.

A breakdown of the crime incidents:

• Monday, June 21 at 14:57 – Armed robbery, Fedler Street, Aureus Thugs walked into the store and held the staff at gunpoint. Liquor and cash were taken from the shop. The robbers fled the scene in a dark-coloured Toyota Corolla.

• Tuesday, June 22 at 03:38 – Attempted break-in, Tambotie Avenue, Homelake Thugs forced open a window and burglar bar, and when the alarm was activated they fled the scene.

• Wednesday, June 23 at 03:30 – Theft, Mercedes Street, Aureus Thugs damaged the electric fence and stole steel from the back of the premises.

• Thursday, June 24 at 18:08 – Medical, Henning Street, Randgate The client requested an ambulance as her daughter was struggling to breathe. It was later reported that the patient unfortunately passed away. Our condolences go out to the family.

• Friday, June 25 at 04:00 – Rape, Wheatlands Mapogo was informed by the community that a lady was raped by a known person. The suspect was detained and handed over to the police for further investigation.

• Saturday, June 26 at 08:22 – Housebreaking and theft, Baily Street, Randgate On arrival it was found that rooms were forced open by unknown intruders during the evening, and books and toys were taken.

• Saturday, June 26 at 08:30 – Housebreaking and theft, Smuts Street, Randgate On arrival at the premises it was established that a break-in occurred and thieves had stolen a hi-fi and gas nozzles.

Ben explained that people should always be vigilant, observe their surroundings, and look out for suspicious persons, activities or vehicles within the vicinity, and report it immediately.
