Rand West City records over 10 000 Covid-19 cases

The total number of active Covid-19 cases in the West Rand is at 5 177 according to the latest report by the Gauteng Provincial Government.

According to the latest report issued by the Gauteng Provincial Government, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Rand West City stood at 10 293. A total of 8 409 people have recovered so far. There has been 291 Covid-19 related deaths. This brings the total number of active cases in the area to 1 593.

Mogale City and Merafong City, which are also part of the West Rand District, have had 19 442 and 6 683 cases respectively. Mogale City and Merafong City have seen 15 925 and 5 883 recoveries respectively.

The total number of Covid-19 cases reported in the West Rand District is 36 425 with 1 029 deaths and 30 219 recoveries. This brings the total number of active cases in the District to 5 177.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality Region C, which comprises Roodepoort, the number of confirmed cases to date stands at 31 934 and 26 520 recoveries.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng was standing at 578 488 with 498 488 recoveries and 12 382 deaths. This translates to 67 618 active cases within the Province.
