Bekkersdal councillor passes away
Municipality confirms the death of Councillor Nobuntu Monica Baza.
Nobuntu Monica Baza, Ward 35 African National Congress (ANC) councillor in the Tambo Section of Bekkersdal, has died at the age of 67.
The reason for her death hasn’t been revealed.
“It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of Councillor Baza. In 2011 she served as a Public Relations Councillor at the former Westonaria Municipal Council. In 2016, she was elected councillor of Ward 35 until she met her untimely death,” said senior communications officer at the Rand West City Local Municipality, Godfrey Selepe Moutloali.
A memorial service will be held for Baza at the Tambo Outline Base in Bekkersdal on June 23.
“She will be laid to rest on Friday, July 3 at the Umhlanga (Dordrecht) Village in her home province of the Eastern Cape. May her soul rest in peace,” Moutloali concluded.
