Four serious incidents this past week – Mapogo crime report

Mapogo released its latest crime report for the period from 31 May to 5 June – from two housebreakings in Greenhills to two gate-motors thefts in Homelake and Greenhills respectively.

There were several incidents in Randfontein over the past week, according to Mapogo A Mathamaga Security’s latest crime report.

Ben Willemse, operations manager at Mapogo, said four serious incidents were reported for their client base for the period from 31 May to 5 June.

A breakdown of the crime incidents are as follows:

• Monday, 31 May at 7.57am – Gate-motor theft, Percheron Street, Greenhills
Thieves lifted the gate from the rails and stole the gate motor during the evening.

• Tuesday, 1 June at 18.22pm – Housebreaking and theft, Tier Street, Greenhills
Thieves lifted the client’s gate from the rail to gain entry onto the premises. They forced open the front door, grabbed a TV and fled the scene.

• Wednesday, 2 June at 16.39pm – Housebreaking and theft, Blesbok Crescent, Greenhills
Thieves gained entry onto the property by climbing over a front wall. They forced open the garage door, stole some tools and fled the scene over the rear fence.

• Saturday, 5 June at 00.22am – Gate-motor theft, Jacaranda Street, Homelake
The owner heard noises at his gate and noticed that thieves were stealing the gate motor. The owner made alarm and the thieves fled the scene.

Ben urged people to ensure that they activate their alarm when leaving their premises.

Never go outside when you hear suspicious noises outside. Thugs attempt to lure possible victims out of their houses.”

He said people should be aware, stay alert and remain safe.
