Meet our charitable DJs

The group that consists of ten members say their goal is beyond entertainment and giving people a fun time, but something that's everlasting

Mohlakeng Soul Gurus (MSG), a local NGO has made a commitment to rid the community of poverty by raising funds for less fortunate families through their performances.

The group of ten professional DJs comprising Sampi Nkwe, Benny Mabusela, Lloyd Moneedi, Lizzy Motingoe, Laban Mompei, Peter Phiri, Keabetswe Kgaswane, Morati Mogoiwa, Sipho Mpoba and Ofentse Mguni, say their goal is beyond entertainment and giving people a fun time, but something that’s everlasting.

The NGO was started in 2019 and every week they raise funds by means of gigs around town, and then donate it to a charity of their choice.

Laban Mompei, spokesperson of the group said their sole mission in society is to assist disadvantaged families, broken homes, and children; with an ultimate goal to restore hope in those who find it hard to make ends meet.

“From the start we have engaged with local stakeholders whom we thought could help in this crusade of ours, and indeed we have been lucky that there were people who realised the difference we’re making,” Laban said.

He said wherever they go to perform and raise funds they also promote good principles and morals among residents of Rand West City and other parts of Gauteng.

Despite the difference they’ve made thus far, they still want to achieve more and propel to greater heights as a movement that has the community’s best interests at heart.

“We would also join hands with others to achieve the same goal, because we believe through that partnership we can achieve much more in society.”
