EPR reveals 29 incidents in a week, mostly break-ins

Last week 29 incidents were reported across Rand West City, most of them break-ins, theft and robbery.

EPR West Rand has released its latest crime report for the period from Monday, 17 May to Monday, 24 May.

According to Johan Krogh, General Manager at EPR, a whopping 29 incidents were reported across Rand West City – 13 at businesses, 13 at residences, two at schools and one at a church.

Break-ins were on top of the list with seven incidents reported. Areas targeted were a plot in Hillside; a business on Allen Street, Westonaria; a school on Mehlomakhe Street, Bekkersdal; a residence on Lazaar Avenue, Helikon Park; a business on Edwards Street, Westonaria; a residence on Railway Street, Randfontein; and a business on Tulbach Street, Culemborg Park.

Theft and robbery are next on the list with six and four incidents respectively.

“From the number of incidents reported it is obvious that crime is not declining in the area. This last week we have seen a spike in housebreaking attempts, theft and robberies. Residents are warned not to leave their gates and doors open – especially garage and front doors – even if they are at home,” Krogh warned.
