Lenmed honours nurses for Nurses Day

Lenmed Randfontein Private Hospital celebrated their hard-working nurses during International Nurses Day.

Lenmed Randfontein Private Hospital’s nurses were celebrated for all their hard work on International Nurses Day on Wednesday, 12 May.

Ofentse Pharumele, Lenmed spokesperson, explained that the theme for this year’s International Nurses Day was ‘A voice to lead: A vision for future healthcare’, and Lenmed decided to take this theme and make it exciting for their nurses.

“We wanted to give the nurses a glimpse of what the future might have in store for them, so we teleported them into the future by decorating our lecture hall like a scene from the future,” said Ofentse.

As they entered the dark hall, miniature nursing robots and holograms lit up the room and gave the nurses the feeling of being teleported into the future.

All of the nurses received treats and bags filled with warm accessories just in time for winter.

During the special occasion, Lenmed also introduced their new Nursing Services Manager, Bernedette Jewaskiewitz who led the nurses in reciting the nurses pledge.

“The nurses pledge drives you to become a missioner of health; not only to influence change in others but to influence positive change within ourselves,” said Bernedette.

Ofentse added that their nurses were happy to have been celebrated and recognised.

“Our nurses should be acknowledged and appreciated because they play an imperative role in healthcare.”

She added that all Covid-19 protocols were observed.
