Helping make dreams come true this Slipper Day

Pick n Pay will donate extra funds to Reach for a Dream with each slipper purchase and on-demand delivery on Slipper Day.

As some people return to offices, Slipper Day offers the perfect opportunity to bring that work-from-home feeling to the workplace, even if it’s just for one day!

Celebrated annually since 2011, Slipper Day is Reach for a Dream’s longest running campaign to raise funds to make the dreams come true of children who are fighting life-threatening illnesses – whether that wish is to visit their dream location or to meet their favourite sports hero.

Postponed last year due to lockdown, Reach for a Dream is determined that dreams can’t be locked down any longer and longstanding retail partner, Pick n Pay, has increased its support this year of the campaign.

In the run-up to Slipper Day, taking place on Friday, 7 May, Pick n Pay will donate R10 from every pair of slippers sold at Pick n Pay clothing stores and supermarkets from 26 April until Slipper Day on 7 May.

Customers can find a wide range of fun and comfortable slippers for children, ladies and men, ranging in price from R99, 99 to R169,99, and can buy their favourite pair either in-store or online at www.pnpclothing.co.za.

In addition, Bottles, Pick n Pay’s on-demand grocery delivery app, will donate R20 to Reach For A Dream for every order placed on the app on the 7th May.

Customers can also buy their Slipper Day supporter sticker at any Pick n Pay till point or from the online shop (www.pnp.co.za) for R20. All proceeds from the Slipper Day stickers go to Reach for a Dream to fulfil the dreams of the little heroes they support.

PnP has supported Reach for a Dream’s annual Slipper Day campaign, ‘Not All Heroes Wear Capes’, since 2016.

“A year into lockdown, it has been a challenging time for many South Africans and even more so for the children fighting life-threatening illnesses. We all deserve hope during this time, and our stores are energised to once again play a role in helping make dreams come true for our brave young heroes,” said Suzanne Ackerman-Berman, Transformation Director at Pick n Pay.

“With many people still working from home and winter fast approaching, there’s no better time or reason to get a new pair of comfy slippers and do good in the process. There may even be those who are back in the office who want to show their support by bringing their home life a little closer to work and wearing slippers on the day,” said Ackerman-Berman.

Customers are encouraged to show their support and share their Slipper Day selfies, wearing their new slippers from Pick n Pay Clothing and using the hashtag #slipperday2021 on social media.
