Market Day held for cash-strapped SPCA

The RandWest SPCA hosts its first Market Day to stay financially afloat.

The RandWest SPCA held a much-need fundraiser in the form of a Market Day at the Greenhills Sport Stadium on Saturday, 24 April.

The well-known animal safe haven is doing all it can to stay financially afloat, and is in desperate need of funds in order to keep their doors open.

Scores of business owners with stalls, families and even pooches came out to enjoy the day with the aim of simply supporting the NGO to strengthen its financial position and earn the public’s confidence as the protector of vulnerable animals.

Candice Cloete, a new member of the committee and an animal lover at heart said the fundraiser would go a long way to help replenish their needs.

“To keep the operations going we require funds for regular maintenance on our vehicles, to cover petrol and pay bills, as well as cover al costs around our animals’ food and shelter,” Candice said.

She went on to explain the Market Day was held with the aim to raise as much money as they could in order to keep the organisation alive. She added that this will be done on a regular basis to ensure cash flow.

“We thank management of the Randfontein Rugby Club who allowed us an opportunity to raise funds. We had such an amazing day,” Candice added.
