The Patriotic Alliance in Rand West City has called on Lebogang Maile, Gauteng MEC for Human Settlements, Urban Planning and Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) to put the Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) under administration with immediate effect.
“The PA Rand West supports the call for immediate suspension of the Executive Mayor, the municipal manager, as well as any official directly involved in and linked to the numerous charges of corruption, fraud and mismanagement of public funds,” said Bruce Nimmerhoud, the regional chairperson of the party.
This follows the findings being revealed of the investigations ordered by the MEC’s office last year.

In the party’s official statement issued recently, they described the finding as an ‘apocalyptic mess’ saying that, “We further call on the MEC to institute a forensic investigation into all CAPEX projects undertaken, completed, incomplete and still under way to unearth the suspected and obvious corruption and mismanagement of these projects from the time of the appointment of the municipal manager.
We call for a full investigation of the roles played by all MMCs in all CAPEX projects for the same period. We know fully why facilities in our communities are left in ruins – it is due to the corruption and mismanagement of municipal funds.
“It is evident that the civil state office bearers and their administration do not carry the interests of its citizens, and pose a threat to meaningful empowerment and transformation which is meant to benefit and advance socio-economic progression.
“We will not sit and turn a blind eye while officials and administrators loot and plunder taxpayers’ money for their own selfish gain and enrichment. It is economic and social treason, and we call for the strongest possible action to be meted out to officials, administration, their associates and partners who are implicated and found guilty of this act of sabotage.
For the longest of time, the West Rand region has not developed nor reached any substantial capacity, and is in a serious state of regression under the ANC leadership.
“We must no longer tolerate and allow criminals to perverse the trust and hope of our citizens, while it is in contravention of our democracy, and its efforts stymie sustainable development and growth of the West Rand.”
