Police nab wanted murder suspect in Mohlakeng; AK-47, ammo also found

A multi-disciplinary operation held by police saw 67 suspects arrested as well as a police chase on Friday, 26 March.

Gauteng Police arrested a suspect wanted for committing serious and violent crimes during a multi-disciplinary operation that was conducted in Mohlakeng last Friday, 26 March.

The suspect was linked positively to a murder that was committed in Evaton, as well as two other serious and violent crimes in Klerksdorp.

According to Captain Kay Makhubela, the Gauteng Police spokesperson, the suspect driving a white Porsche failed to stop at a roadblock.

Gauteng Traffic officers as well as other law-enforcement officers chased him from the N12 roadblock to Mohlakeng, where he was arrested.”

Makhubela added that police found an AK-47 rifle, 34 pieces of rifle ammunition, two empty rifle magazines and one empty 9mm magazine while searching the suspect’s vehicle.

In addition, a total of 67 suspects of which 50 were illegal immigrants were arrested during the same operation in Muldersdrift for various serious and violent crimes.

The arrested suspects are expected to appear in various magistrates’ courts soon.
