A 39-year-old man was shot and killed in front of his kids while his 13-year-old son was wounded in the neck by an assailant who opened fire on the family outside their home in Westonaria on Monday night, 22 March.
According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the Bekkersdal Police spokesperson the crime occurred on Christian Beyers Street.
“Allegedly the father was with his three children and had just arrived from work when the attacker appeared. He was still at the gate and about to enter his home when they were shot at. The other two children managed to escape unharmed,” Lefakane said.
She said the incident was reported to the police immediately and cases of murder as well as attempted murder were being investigated.
“We are appealing to the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect,” Lefakane added.
This shooting happened after a man, believed to be in his 30s, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in his vehicle at a shopping centre in Westonaria on Saturday evening, 20 March.
