Active Covid-19 cases in Rand West City increases slightly amidst warnings of a third wave

According to the latest report issued by the Gauteng Provincial Government, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Rand West City stood at 6 860. A total of 6 597 people have recovered so far. There has been 223 Covid-19 related deaths. This brings the total number of active cases in the area to 40.

Mogale City and Merafong City, which are also part of the West Rand District, have had 12 396 and 4 825 cases respectively. Mogale City and Merafong City have seen 11 961 and 4 554 recoveries respectively.

The total number of Covid-19 cases reported in the West Rand District is 24 088 with 779 deaths and 23 114 recoveries. This brings the total number of active cases in the District to 195.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality Region C, which comprises Roodepoort, the number of confirmed cases to date stands at 20 566 and 20 097 recoveries.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng was standing at 411 428 with 398 656 recoveries and 10 133 deaths. This translates to 2 639 active cases within the Province.
