No to violence – WAWA at 16 Days of Activism campaign launch

"As WAWA we are against any form of abuse against women and children, and wanted to demonstrate our commitment that those who are vulnerable should be protected by organisations like ourselves."

Women Against Women and Child Abuse (WAWA) launched their 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign by creating mass awareness in various areas within Rand West City.

Enrique Bhana, WAWA centre manager, said they even visited Munsieville and Krugersdorp, and said the message was simple, “Abuse could never be accepted in our society”.

The demonstration was also to show young men that any kind of abuse is unacceptable.

“The purpose of creating this awareness was to show society that as WAWA we are against any form of abuse against women and children, and wanted to demonstrate our commitment that those who are vulnerable should be protected by organisations like ourselves,” Bhana said.

Florence Solomons, Social Auxiliary worker at WAWA added, “As woman we need to support each other and also take responsibility in the fight against gender-based violence. We will assist abused woman and children at our Victim Friendly Rooms, no matter what.”
