Taxi crashes into tree in W’aria: Three dead, ten injured

Ten people were injured and three killed when taxi crashed into tree in Westonaria.

Three people were killed and ten others injured when a taxi crashed into a tree on Jan Blignaut Road in Westonaria on Wednesday afternoon, 25 November.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson said paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after 4pm to find several services already in attendance to assist the patients.

On closer inspection, medics found that three people had sustained numerous fatal injuries. Nothing could be done for them and they were declared dead.

“Ten other patients were tended to by medics. Assessments showed that four people were in a critical condition, while six others had sustained moderate injuries.

“The patients were treated and the critically injured were provided with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, three critically injured patients were airlifted by private medical helicopters to nearby hospitals while the remaining patients were transported by ambulance.”

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
