WATCH: Montrose City Mega Development progresses in Middelvlei

Brenda Mahuma, Executive Mayor of the Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) hails project 'a beautiful development'.

SCM Property & Development as the turnkey developer of Montrose City Mega Development in Middelvlei held a mass introduction on Saturday, 14 November.

In an official housing brochure published online at www.montrosecity.co.za, it’s explained that “The Montrose City Mega Development is a mixed integrated housing development from low cost, affordable to upper market residential units situated in Randfontein. It consists of 5 602 and 8 190 mixed use residential units on Phase 1 and 2 respectively.

“Montrose City Mega Development has a public and private participation which will yield schools, private and public hospitals, college/ satellite university, government complex, theme parks, commercial agriculture, retail, commercial office parks, light and heavy industrial development and other public amenities which will yield a lot of economic opportunities and social integration.”

The aim is further to transform the economy through modernisation to –

• address development challenges and improve the lives of the people of Randfontein
• provide a sustainable human settlement plan
• build more united, non-racial, integrated and safer communities
• deliver on the constitutional right to housing
• create decent employment and sustainable livelihoods
• build local economies
• broaden access to local public facilities and services

Some of the economic benefits include improved quality of life – people will work where they live, shorter commuting times, improved education and improved access to healthcare facilities while some of the socioeconomic benefits include the creation of at least 1 250 jobs after completion, retail development, integrated transportation and more.

Sam Molaba, the development manager said members of the community were invited to learn that housing units will be sold soon.

Brenda Mahuma, Executive Mayor of the Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) hailed the project a beautiful development and said the municipality is proud that RDP houses are part of a developing area like Montrose, so that many will have a roof over their heads.

“Whatever colour your are, you are welcome to become part of this peaceful and lovely community of Rand West City. Let us build and revive this economy that is ailing as a result of some mines shutting down,” Mahuma said.
