Suspect found with security jersey, silencer as R’fontein police arrest 20

All arrested suspects are to appear in the Randfontein Magistrates' Court soon.

Randfontein Police clamped down on crime in parts of Mohlakeng and arrested at least 20 suspects during operations held from 4 to 6 November.

According to Sergeant Carmen Hendricks, the Randfontein Police spokesperson, those arrested committed crimes including being in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, and of stolen goods. She said on Friday, 6 November, police also targeted the Zenzele informal settlement where a suspect was arrested for being in possession of unlicensed ammunition and an undisclosed amount of dyed cash. Hendricks added that the suspect was also found in possession of a Fidelity security jersey and firearm silencer.

“At around 4pm on the same day, police managed to arrest another suspect for being in possession of a Magnum revolver that had a removed serial number and 35 live rounds of ammunition,” Hendricks said.

All arrested suspects are to appear in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court soon.

Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela, Randfontein Police station commander applauded the members for a job well done.
