West Rand District Police make another 90 arrests

A total of 90 suspects were arrested during another West Rand District Police operation this time held in Magaliesburg, Tarlton and Hekpoort on Thursday 5, November.

According Sergeant Audrey Sefara, West Rand District police spokesperson and Westonaria Police spokesperson the 10 hour operation brought arrested suspects for the following offences including hijacking (4), stolen vehicles (3), culpable homicide (1), contravention of protection order (1), domestic violence (1), fraud (4), possession of dagga and drugs (5), stolen property (2), reckless and negligent driving (2), rape (1), robbery (3), theft (1), theft out of a motor vehicle (28) and 28 suspects arrested for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

“During the operation, a total of 60 fines were issued to the value of R63 800 as result of failure to comply with Road Traffic Acts. Four shops were issued with fines for selling expired goods and six fines were issued for dealing in liquor without liquor licenses. The outlets were also shut down,” Sefara said.

She added all suspects will appear before the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court on their respective dates soon.
