Load reduction planned from 5pm – one area affected

Eskom has released a statement saying they will be implementing load reduction on Tuesday night – one local area will be affected.

Eskom will be implementing load reduction in certain areas of the West Rand from 5pm to 10pm on Tuesday, 3 November.

This will be to avoid overloading the network in high-density areas. The areas affected are Bekkersdal, Kagiso, Rietvallei and Sinqobile.

“During the implementation of load reduction, customers are urged to switch off all their electrical appliances to avoid possible damage due to power surges when supply returns.

Failure to do so may lead to transformer trips or failures, and damage to household appliances when supply is restored,” explained Ronel Kotze, Communication Practitioner at the Eskom Communication and Stakeholder Relations Department.

They asked clients not to report this outage, but encouraged communities to report meter bypasses, illegal connections and vandalism of the electricity infrastructure on the Eskom Crime-Line number on 0800 11 27 22.
