On Friday afternoon, 23 October a man crashed his vehicle in Westonaria – only to get onto the roof to lie down for a nap.
Consequently, he was arrested for drinking and driving after it took three traffic officers to remove him from the roof.

Kenny Mampondo, chief of the Rand West City Traffic Department, who was also shocked by the video of the incident, confirmed the arrest, condemning the irresponsible behaviour seen in the video.
“This is not normal behaviour,” Mampondo added. “This is one of the major problems that we are dealing with ever since lockdown levels have been relaxed. People under the influence get behind the wheel, leading to things like this incident,” Mampondo said.
