Mrs Randfontein 2019, Leonie Pretorius from Greenhills is a Top 10 finalist in the Fabulous Women in Business category for this year’s She is Fabulous Women’s Awards.

The event will be held in early December in Pretoria, and the 40-year-old wishes to make Randfontein proud.

I feel extremely honoured and humbled to be recognised as a Top 10 finalist in the category. It’s also an extreme privilege to represent my town in this regard,” Leonie said.

The excited mother of two, who is an attorney and managing director of Getting Legal, said she enjoys making an impact in the lives of others.

Leonie helped Emeritus Training Academy to become accredited to ensure the continued development and education of teachers, and she also assisted The Institute of Broadcasting to become accredited to ensure that youth are developed in media. “I have been mentoring and coaching staff of Soweto TV,” she said.

She added that people like her need to acknowledge that they are being watched by the youth – the future generation – therefore they should be leading examples.

She said as a business owner, she has striven to make a difference towards small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Gauteng; making sure that they comply with legislation and helping them to create a proper working environment for their employees. She said this would help curb the scourge of unemployment.

I would like to create a skills development hub or centre in Randfontein as I believe that our youth are not getting proper career guidance,” she said.

By setting up this facility, she said it would help to give career guidance; ensuring that they are equipped with the right skills and knowledge to go into the world to become the future business owners and entrepreneurs.

“I want to empower other women so that they look within themselves and be the best they can be,” Leonie added.
