Beyond the call of duty: FJL Wells teachers praised

Teachers honoured for their work and commitment in what is a tough academic year.

Management of FJL Wells Primary School celebrated World Teachers Day on Monday, 5 October by presenting their hard-working educators with gifts.

Each teacher received a coffee mug their with photo printed on it, as well as key holders bearing their photo.

According to acting principal, Sello Mphastwe, this was a small token of their appreciation for the dedication shown by teachers in what is a tough academic year, taking into consideration that the impact of lockdown had set them back this year.

Sello praised the teachers and described them as invaluable to the school.

We all know teachers are extremely important in shaping a community, but this year in particular, we saw our teachers giving their all to learners, despite the pandemic. We saw them going beyond the call of duty,” Sello said.

Sello went on to say by showing the teachers that they are being appreciated, they in turn will be motivated – resulting in positive outcomes for the learners.

“Not only are we celebrating World Teachers Day, but we need also to acknowledge the fact that teachers gave their all to make sure that learners pull up their socks and recover academically where they were delayed because they’ve been at home for such a long time.

We are acknowledging how hard you’ve worked in your profession, and we hope that this gesture will encourage you to keep doing the good work you’ve been doing,” Sello thanked his staff members.
