WATCH: Randfontein Secondary School learners recite local poet’s work

“It is my wish that this poem would be shared with all the learners in schools. I also have a challenge where I encourage learners to record a video of themselves reciting parts of the poem and then post the videos on social media."

Bheki Zungu from Little Falls is a storyteller, an author, social entrepreneur, MC, radio show co-host, motivational speaker, career coach and a marriage counselling enthusiast.

His poem titled The Land of Ubuntu was recited by Randfontein Secondary School learners recently as part of the Heritage Month celebrations.

“I would love to see an increase in the views of the video of this poem that is about our beautiful land South Africa. I recently couriered copies of the poem to the offices of President Cyril Ramaphosa; Premier Sihle Zikalala; and Ministers Angie Motshekga, Nathi Mthethwa and Blade Nzimande. It is a great poem, even if I have to say so myself,” said the Roodepoort-based author.

Bheki is a former board member of Joburg City Theatres and he also served as an independent Audit Committee member at the Joburg Zoo for five years.

He grew up at Mabedlana village in Ulundi and attended Mabedlana Primary and Masibumbane High School. He obtained his BCom Accounting degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

He has vast experience in auditing, risk management, compliance, governance, strategy, finance, business development, publishing and consulting.

Bheki’s other passions include career guidance, workplace readiness and small business development initiatives, and he has given presentations and talks in different areas and also through community radio stations.

It is my wish that this poem would be shared with all the learners in schools. I also have a challenge where I encourage learners to record a video of themselves reciting parts of the poem and then post the videos on social media,” said Bheki.

The key message he would like to pass on is that despite the challenges we face, we all should be proud of our country, work towards making it great and always pray that God blesses us.
