Randfontein Rugby Club held a prayer day in an effort to restore hope in Randfontein after the Covid-19 pandemic and heavy lockdown restrictions disrupted livelihoods and shook the economy of the town.

The prayer meeting was held at the Greenhills Sports Stadium on Sunday, 20 September.

The crowd maintained social distancing by remaining in their vehicles from which they listened to a message and words of encouragement by Jasper van der Westhuizen.

Club manager Lulu Kleyn, one of the organisers of the prayer meeting, said the gathering was also aimed at letting people know that everyone is in this together and has been affected by the pandemic – they are not alone.

“We wanted to spread the message that by uniting we will come out of this situation. Together we can give one another strength. Every single one of us was impacted in some way, some more than others, especially those who have lost their jobs during these though times,” Lulu said.

Tanya V sang praise hymns at the meeting.
