One mother Africa!

African print symbolises the unity of all Africans.

Lebitso Lepholletse may be a proud Mosotho woman but it makes her even prouder to be clad in green, red, yellow and black – the colours that represent every African person on her outfit called the African print.

Lebitso, 50, said these colours must shine brightly on every African as they symbolise love and support for each other.

“What I’m wearing is worn by those who have the best interests of the continent at heart; those of us who are filled with the African love in our hearts,” Lebitso said proudly.

The purpose of the African print outfit is to unite people, especially given the tumultuous history of the continent during which our people were subjected to injustices of the worst kind.”

Lebitso went on to say the outfit shows that Africa is a melting pot of cultures and that Africans are embracing one another as one tribe.
When asked what distinguishes the African print from other attires, Lebitso said the outfits must be colourful.

She said the idea is to merge all cultures and traditions that are found in Africa; attesting to the fact that Africa has many different and beautiful traditions.

Lebitso went on to say wearing the African print is also a way of honouring those whose blood was shed as they fought to free the continent from colonial bounds.

What is even lovely about this is that you can customise your look by adorning it with certain accessories or even modernise it if you are into fashion,” Lebitso said.

She added, “I’m proud to wear such an outfit because these colours are for us to shine and stand out, and for us to be confident so that everyone can know that Africa is a beautiful place.

“There is no better way to honour Africa and its people than showing the rest of the world that we, African children, are children of one mother Africa,” Lebitso said.
