Body found in bakkie during police operation

Three men were arrested and charged with murder – Westonaria Police.

Three suspects were arrested for murder after the body of a man was found in the bakkie they were travelling in on the N12 near Westonaria early on Thursday morning, 17 September.

Sergeant Audery Sefara, Westonaria Police spokesperson said the deceased was found with an injury to his head. Sefara explained that police randomly stopped the bakkie to search it and found the body of a man on the back of it.

“Police also found a security bullet-proof vest and two holsters. The three suspects are aged 36, 40 and 51.”

She added that the primary purpose of stop-and-search operations is to enable officers to find suspicious people who are carrying illegal objects to commit crime to prevent them from doing so.

Major General Fred Kekana, the West Rand District Police Commissioner praised the police for the work they have done, adding that it will help the community regain their trust in the police. Suspects are expected to appear before the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court soon.
