Scores of cats and dogs up for adoption at CastAways

According to Louisa Rossouw, founder and director of the sanctuary, 77 dogs and 148 cats are all up for adoption.

Covid-19 has had a massive impact on many businesses, and CastAways Animal Sanctuary in Wilbotsdal has not been spared.

According to Louisa Rossouw, founder and director of the sanctuary, 77 dogs and 148 cats are all up for adoption.

“Covid-19 has affected us terribly in that 60 per cent of our debit orders have been stopped until further notice. Even once-off donations have gone down by 70 per cent. We are doing well in following the regulations but we currently need cleaning products and food for our cats and dogs.”

Louisa said although it’s hard to get sponsorship because of not being too well-known to the public, Randfontein Trucks Salvage in Aureus is sponsoring the sanctuary and she herself contributes out of her own pocket.

“We do however, remain committed to giving every pet that we rescue a happy and safe haven where they can feel comfortable, fed and get medical treatment if needed until they are placed in their new permanent homes,” she concluded.
