Caxton West Rand gets a deep clean

Caxton West Rand, which publishes most of the local newspapers in the area, is rigorously doing all it can to ensure a safe and clean working space for the people who bring you the news.

The importance of businesses adhering to Covid-19 health and safety regulations was emphasised again by President Cyril Ramaphosa during his address to the nation on Sunday, 12 July. With the rate of infections increasing now that more people are returning to work, stricter precautions have to be taken.

Caxton West Rand, which publishes the Krugersdorp News, Randfontein Herald, Roodepoort Record and Roodeport Northsider has taken extra and exceptional measures on a weekly basis since lockdown to ensure safe working conditions for its many employees, and a sterile publishing process to ensure that the newspapers that reach our readers are safe to handle.

Editorial and advertising staff are controlled to ensure that only a small number of employees are on the premises at the same time, that everyone wears a mask at all times, social distancing is adhered to, and that screening and disinfecting are done when employees enter the building.

But, a business can never be too careful …

Like many other organisations doing their best to flatten the infection curve, the Caxton West Rand branch closed its doors again on Wednesday, 15 July and had its employees work from home while a professional, industrial-grade cleaning team was brought in to disinfect the entire building as a precaution.

Click Cleaning West Rand brought in different kinds of sanitizing cleaners to wipe down and disinfect the air and surfaces with a fogger machine.

Annatjie Verster from Click said they’ve been quite busy over the past three weeks as many companies had resumed operations and needed regular disinfection. After targeting every nook and cranny in every section of the office building, they felt confident to declare the workspace clean and safe to enter.

Though there had been no doubt among the hard-working employees that their safety had always been prioritised, they can now feel even more assured that their best interests are being looked after. As always, we at the Herald will do our best to help get this pandemic under control.
