RPA distributes one ton of maize meal on behalf of a former Randfonteiner

One ton of maize meal distributed to various charities, waste pickers and unemployed persons in the Rand West City region.

The Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA) recently distributed one ton of maize meal to various charities, waste pickers and the unemployed in the Rand West City region.

According to Marcelle Mans, RPA Managing Director, at the beginning of June, she received a call from former Randfonteiner and Show exhibitor, Paul Holder, who now lives in New Jersey in the United States.

“He said he would be donating one ton of maize meal to needy persons in Randfontein and asked if we would be able to assist with the distribution. We were more than happy to assist as we know many charities, families and individuals are in dire need of food,” said Marcelle.

“Our sincere thanks to Paul who still has a passion for Randfontein, although he lives thousands of kilometres away. We would also like to thank Sungate Farms for being prepared to swop 20kg bags of maize meal for 2,5kg and 10kg bags so that we could reach more people. Thanks also to the Child and Family Welfare Randfontein office in Randgate that served as a collection point for the various organisations.”

Joy Hamann, RPA Publicity Officer, personally distributed more than 40 bags to unemployed individuals on the streets. These included unemployed domestic workers, waste pickers, builders and general labourers.
