One of two missing persons found

Local police confirm young woman is safe.

Randfontein Police have confirmed that the young woman, Chantelle van Wyk, 19, who was reported missing, has been found.

“We can confirm she was found and is safe,” said Sergeant Carmen Hendricks, Randfontein Police spokesperson.

Edwin Mogomotsi Leshomo, a 36-year-old man, also known as Pinampi, from Simunye Extension 5 who went missing from his home on Wednesday evening, 17 June is, however, still missing.

According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, Leshomo is short and dark in complexion. She added that he was sitting alone outside his house at the time of his disappearance.

“We are appealing to the entire public to help locate this missing person. Anyone with information may contact the Bekkersdal Police on 011 755 8040/ 8069 or Crime Stop on 08 600 10111 or alternatively the investigating officer, detective Sergeant Shiwe Mkone on 072 561 9417.”

Both the police and Pink Ladies say that two Rand West City residents, said to be mentally challenged, have been reported missing.

According to the Pink Ladies Organisation, Chantelle van Wyk, aged 19, was last seen in Wheatlands last Thursday, 18 June. She was wearing a white T-shirt, grey tracksuit pants and black takkies at the time of her disappearance. She has brown eyes, is of medium weight and of average height.
