Fifty blankets donated to Child and Family Welfare centre

'Many of the recipients are homeless and were extremely grateful for the warm blankets'.

The Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA), together with one of its members, Aranda Textile Mills, helped to make a difference to 50 needy people this winter.

Marcelle Mans, RPA managing director said the newly established Child and Family Welfare: Randfontein appealed to the RPA for assistance to provide blankets for the poor as winter approaches.

“I contacted one of our members, Aranda Textile Mills, which is also a Randfontein Show sponsor, to find out if they could assist with a donation of blankets for the needy. Aranda willingly donated 50 blankets which were handed over at the Child and Family Welfare centre in Randgate on Friday, 29 May. Many of the recipients are homeless and were extremely grateful for the warm blankets,” she said.

The Child and Family Welfare centre serves the social welfare needs of the wider Randfontein community from their offices in Randgate (the old NG Welsyn building). In addition to food parcels, they provide psycho-social support, therapy and advice, and they do referrals.

Anyone who can donate non-perishable food and good, used clothing for the koskas and klerekas should contact Anthony Weilbach on 066 399 4695. Alternatively, contact Joy Hamann, RPA publicity officer on 082 852 1860. She can do the necessary referrals.
