Rand West City’s Covid-19 cases show large increase

The total number of confirmed cases in Rand West City stands at 28, with the West Rand District nearing the 350 mark.

The total number of Covid-19 infections in Rand West City has increased significantly since last week, according to Gauteng Provincial Government’s latest breakdown of Covid-19 cases.

On 28 May, the Herald reported that Rand West City stood at 17, but as at 31 May, this number has increased to 28, with 13 recoveries.

As far as the rest of the West Rand District is concerned, the total number of confirmed cases neared the 350 mark, with a total of 346 cases, 59 recoveries and four deaths.

Mogale City has 81 cases with 42 recoveries. Merafong City still leads the pack in the district with 183 cases and four recoveries.

There are still 54 unallocated cases in this District as well.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality Region C, which comprises Roodepoort, the number of confirmed cases stands at 169, with 99 recoveries.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng stands at 4 003, with 2 114 recoveries and 33 deaths. Currently 206 people are being treated for the virus in public and private hospitals in the province.
