JUST IN: Covid-19 cases now over 30 in Rand West City

Gauteng Provincial Government’s latest breakdown of Covid-19 cases shows 26 new cases in the West Rand District.

As at 1 June, Rand West City has 31 confirmed Covid-19 cases.

This is according to Gauteng Provincial Government’s latest breakdown of Covid-19 cases that was released on Tuesday afternoon, 2 June.

Mogale City and Merafong City, which are also part of the West Rand District, have 91 and 197 cases respectively. There are 54 unallocated cases in this District as well. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the West Rand District to 373, with 60 recoveries and four deaths. In terms of recoveries, Rand West City stands at 14, Mogale City at 42 and Merafong City at four.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality Region C, which comprises Roodepoort, the number of confirmed cases stands at 175, with 101 recoveries.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng stands at 4 231, with 2 154 recoveries and 33 deaths. Currently, 219 people are being treated for the virus in public and private hospitals in the province.
