Daluthando Ndlovu, 18, an aspiring actor from Kocksoord featured in the role of a diver in an advertisement for DStv’s Summer Campaign is another big step towards becoming a star.
An excited Daluthando said while waiting for his big breakthrough, this was the beginning of another journey and opportunity to impress.
He said on Saturday, 23 May, he had a live Instagram chat with Thabang Moleya, an executive producer and director of a telenovela in SA that is being broadcast on Mzansi Magic.
Our conversation was very exciting, motivating and inspirational, and just maybe the start of something big. I was so excited about having been cast in his latest TV commercial.”
Although still a matric learner at Randfontein High School, he wants to pursue a career in the film and television industry.
He said he is being taught acting skills by his Dramatic Arts teacher, Mr TJ Nkomo. Daluthando further described himself as energetic and hard-working.
“I am being raised in an environment that fosters honesty, respect and love. I am very organised and perform well under pressure. I really enjoy working with others and get along with people easily.”
He said the plan is to matriculate, then study film and television, get his big ‘acting breakthrough’ and ultimately produce his own film.
“Acting is a weird balancing act between the technical aspects of film-making and emotional connection that make the story believable. It’s weird, but it feels good.
They tell me I’m a good actor; not overly talented, but I have enough and I have a good work ethic. I just know that I have fun and do a good job.”
His message to youngsters with a dream is, “Take your education seriously, identify your talent and nurture it”.
