Three confirmed Covid-19 deaths on the West Rand

Gauteng Provincial Government confirmed three deaths in the West Rand District.

Three people have so far succumbed to Covid-19 on the West Rand.

Mogale City, Merafong City and Rand West City are all part of the West Rand District.

Gauteng Provincial Government did not, however, say in which sub-district the deaths occurred.

As at 20 May, Rand West City’s confirmed Covid-19 cases remain at 15, with 10 recoveries.

Mogale City and Merafong City have 46 and five cases respectively. There are six unallocated cases in this District as well. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the West Rand District to 72, with 43 recoveries – 30 in Mogale City, 10 in Rand West City and three in Merafong City.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality Region C, which comprises Roodepoort, the number of confirmed cases stands at 98, with 76 recoveries.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng stood at 2 400, with 1 729 recoveries and 27 deaths. At the time of print, 62 people were being treated for the virus in public and private hospitals in the province.
