Family heartbroken after beloved cat, Max, went missing

'He is like our child' – owners of beloved family cat Max that was last seen on 20 April.

Samantha and Rynhardt van der Vyver from Culemborg Park are desperately looking for their missing cat, Max.

“Our baby was last seen in our yard on Monday, 20 April,” Samantha said.

She explained that Max only went outside when they were with him or when his sister, Sokkies went outside. “Max would never be outside for longer than 20 to 30 minutes.”

According to Samantha, they have been searching for Max non-stop.

We are driving around at night hoping to spot him, and when we go for walks early in the morning, we call out his name. We even sprinkled his litter around the block, but he is nowhere,” she said.

Rynhardt described Max as a medium-size cat with lots of black stripes, a little bit of beige/ greyish stripes and white around his mouth.

“We are very sad and heartbroken. We do not have children yet, so he is like our child. To us it feels like we have lost a child. He received so much love and attention, we do not understand why he would leave home while he had everything. He wears a red reflective collar with a tag that has his name and my cellphone number.

Rynhardt said they have phoned veterinary practices in town, the SPCA and even CastAways Animal Sanctuary to ask if they have taken in any cats, but no luck.

“My Facebook friends have been very helpful by sharing my posts, and many are on the lookout for our baby Max. We also asked many of our neighbours to let us know when they see him. Please help,” Samantha pleaded.
