Covid-19 assessment at shopping centres: Govt to visit Village Square today

Village Square Shopping Centre is one of six shopping malls in the province to be visited by high-ranking government officials today, Wednesday, 13 May.

According to an official statement issued by the Gauteng Provincial Government, the aim is to assess compliance with Covid-19 regulations at shopping centres.

Compliance with the Level 4 lockdown regulations by shop owners and shoppers, including maintaining social distancing and the use of cloth face masks will be assessed. Food items will be checked for over-pricing, and maintenance of food security standards will also be assessed.

Other malls/ shopping centres to be visited include Soshanguve Mall, Ivory Park Mall, Alex Mall (Alexandra), Chris Hani Mall (Ekurhuleni) and Thabong Mall (Sebokeng).
