Another pageant finalist assists the public

A Mrs Randfontein finalist is busy with a number of projects. You can help her help others by making donations. OR Mrs Randfontein finalist calls on public across the West Rand to assist the needy.

Aletta de Villiers, 45, another Mrs Randfontein finalist is a mother and founder of RandCare/Omgee by which she reaches out to her community.

Aletta said the campaign started four months ago when she and her family were looking for a school uniform for a little girl who had nothing, and was being raised by her grandparents.

“After struggling to get some clothing and stationery for her, I realised that many parents are struggling to make ends meet. I then started with the school uniform exchange project, allowing people to exchange their children’s school uniforms and school shoes that they have outgrown, for bigger sizes.”

She said the project grew to a point where people would bring old, unwanted clothing and other items such as stationery, linen, canned food and toiletries.

“I realised that this is what I needed to do. I started donating the food to families in need, especially those with small kids, and old people. Whoever is in need can contact us for assistance. All measures are taken to ensure that the parcels go to those in need who will appreciate the assistance.”

Furthermore, Aletta has started the winter school shoes project, and asks for school shoes to be donated to less fortunate kids. Her matric dress project enables people to donate evening dresses to help a matric girl’s dream come true.

“We have assisted so many families, and the smiles, love and happiness we got from them are worth more than all the money in the world. At the moment we would like to reach out to older people in our community, as they are so easily forgotten and vulnerable,” she said.

“Anyone who would like to assist me and donate can either contact me on WhatsApp, or call me on 065 891 2604. Any donations are welcome. I can collect them, or donations can be dropped off,” Aletta concluded.
