Nine confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Rand West City

Gauteng Provincial Government gives breakdown of Covid-19 cases in all its districts.

There are nine confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Randfontein (correction: this figure is in fact for the entire Rand West City), according to the Gauteng Provincial Government.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the West Rand District to 41.

According to an official statement released on Thursday, 23 April, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the province as at 22 April sits at 1 224, with 826 recoveries and seven deaths.

Currently 46 people are being treated for the virus in public and private hospitals.

As far as health workers are concerned, 28 Gauteng Health Department employees have tested positive for the virus. All cases are mild, and did not require hospitalisation, except for one person, who was discharged on Friday, 17 April.

Gauteng Provincial Government said the process of disinfection continues at various facilities across the province.
