Bekkersdal receives food parcel donations

Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM), in partnership with the West Rand Muslim Association and Salaamat Motors, donated more food parcels to Bekkersdal residents in Ward 24 on Thursday, 9 April.

Tshidiso Tlharipe, RWCLM spokesperson said this was part of a continuous campaign by the municipality to ensure that those who are less fortunate do not go hungry during lockdown.

“We believe the initiative will go a long way towards helping impoverished families and those who are vulnerable,” Thlaripe said.

He added the aim is also to bring food to these people and limit movement, as many are out and about seeking essential items.

“We believe this will help minimise the impact of Covid-19 and help manage its spread,” Tlharipe added.
