Covid-19: ‘Lets get it under control’ – WAWA

'We feel it is extremely important that people adhere to the government's regulations to ensure this outbreak is brought under control' - WAWA.

Women Against and Women and Child Abuse (WAWA) has urged the public to comply with Covid-19 safety regulations in order to help keep the outbreak at bay.

Enrique Bhana, WAWA centre manager, said it is everyone’s responsibility to help fight the pandemic that has the world in its grip.

“We feel it is extremely important that people adhere to the government’s regulations to ensure this outbreak is brought under control,” Bhana said.

They also encourage people to be extra vigilant and maintain a safe distance of at least two metres, instead of the general one-metre prescribed distance.

“We also urge people to stay at home during this time.”

Bhana added that with the number of infections increasing on a daily basis, they appeal to the community not be selfish.

“We ask people to be considerate and be mindful whenever they are about to do something that may put the lives of others at risk,” Bhana said, adding that people can take precautionary measures in their homes, such as good hygiene and washing their hands up to the elbows.

“This is the time for people to act responsibly and to stay informed about what they need to do during this crisis. We at the organisation wish to remind people that it is not only the government’s responsibility to bring this pandemic under control. Everybody needs to do their bit, including businesses and NGOs,” Bhana said.
