Another mini substation vandalised

EPR reveals thefts and a mini substation being vandalised during lockdown.

Local security company EPR revealed that yet another mini substation was targeted in Randfontein recently.

Johan Krogh, General Manager of EPR, confirmed to the Herald that on Monday, 30 March, an electricity mini substation was vandalised in Aureus.

“We urge residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity at any substation or mini substation.”

On 4 March, the Herald reported that two mini substations in Helikon Park and Greenhills respectively had been stripped of their components on Saturday, 29 February.

Krogh revealed other criminal activities during the lockdown period.

In Westonaria, the battery of a tractor was stolen, while in a separate incident, crops were stolen.

“As active members of the Rand West Municipal Ratepayers Association (RAMRA), we are adamant to ensure that infrastructure remains protected,” he concluded.
