Covid-19 lockdown: Working from home

For as long as she is fully connected to the internet, this businesswomen is ready to work from home during lockdown.

Trudie Jordt, secretary of D & N Property and Conveyance Paralegal firm said although working from home does have its perks, there are things she will miss at the office, such as the special cup of coffee the ‘tea lady’ makes.

But, the 48-year-old said for as long as she is connected to the internet, she is ready to go.

Her company, which does property transfers, will keep in touch with clients by telephone or via emails – something Trudie can do from anywhere.

Describing her typical day, Trudie has to keep an extensive paper trail and make sure her clients are able to sell.

“Working from home in this uncertain time does give one peace of mind. What better way to assist them in the comfort of my own home in total calmness? There will also not be any distractions.”

Describing how different it is to work from home, Trudie said there are no specific working hours, no uniforms nor lunch times.

“But, we work as hard as we are used to. Clients still come first. We have a WhatsApp group and can communicate to our clients via email – the only thing is, they will not be able to get hold of me on the land line.”

Regarding that ‘special cup of coffee’ she will now miss for at least 21 days, Trudie said, “I will now have to get up and make it myself”.

Her advice to other businesses is to adjust and do what they can to please their clients.
