These are the Rand West City essential services during lockdown

Essential services to continue in Rand West City, and here is a list from our municipality.

The Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) said essential services will continue as normal during the lockdown period.

According to Tshidiso Tlharipe, RWCLM spokesperson, water and sanitation, electricity, waste collection and cleaning of illegal dumping sites, traffic units, call centres and provision of graves at cemeteries are classified as essential services.

“All essential services teams, except call centres, will have two standby teams at each depot (Randfontein and Westonaria). The teams will operate on a rotational basis of seven days per team,” Tlharipe said.

Tlharipe said members of the community can call 087 238 2493 to report service delivery issues.

“The call centre will operate during office hours between 7.30am and 4pm, Monday to Friday. We further urge community members to liaise with their ward councillors in case of any emergency,” Tlharipe said.

He went on to say those who want to submit meter readings can take photos of the readings and send them to 071 577 5677 (via WhatsApp), and need to make sure that submissions are done before Saturday, 18 April.

“We further urge communities to use various payment methods such as electronic funds transfer (EFT), direct bank deposits, or EasyPay to pay their municipal bills. Any queries regarding invoices or statements can be directed to email address account.enquiries@randwestcity.gov.za.

“Lastly, let us stick to the rules as outlined by the President when he declared 21 days of lockdown. We encourage the community of Rand West City to play its meaningful role and fight against the scourge of the dreaded Covid-19,” he added.
